Phlox are perennials and a popular choice for gardens, ranging from ground cover to tall varieties that bloom from early spring to late summer. Sunlight requirements vary, and they prefer nutrient-rich soil that is evenly moist. Many different varieties and species of phlox are available, including Creeping, Carolina, Meadow, Spotted, and Sand phlox. To ensure the best success, it is important to prepare the garden bed before planting and to provide the correct sunlight and soil requirements.

Additionally, we recommend trimming back the stems to 2-3 inches from the soil in the fall, and moving the pots into an unheated garage. If necessary, stems can be rooted in water. Finally, if the phlox are not flowering in early July, dividing the existing plants in the spring is recommended.
